What do you #ChooseToChallenge?

Happy International Women’s Day!

A woman who challenges herself, naturally challenges the systemic inequalities of a society. This international women’s month we dare you to challenge the way you are expected to act. Be loud, be emotional, say NO, get the haircut you always wanted, and don’t compromise your comfort for anyone’s egos.

Misogyny is a multi-dimensional problem that needs fixing on many different levels. Challenging yourself not to be what others expect you to be might change the views and stereotypes others have over you. However, the internalized misogyny most of us drag along also needs challenging. Challenging the way you are expected to act will not only change the way you are perceived but also the way you perceive yourself. You might find you gain confidence, you might feel stronger and you might find a side of yourself you never knew was there.

The world is shifting, people’s mindsets are changing, we’re reinventing ourselves and learning to be ok with whatever it is we find out. The world is discovering that women might be more than what we have always thought them to be. But, we’re a far cry from a world that resembles a unified one. Stereotypes and conventional ideas of women are still alive and projected on us. That’s why this year for IWM, we’re Choosing to Challenge! What do you #ChooseToChallenge?
